Needle Arts Guild
The needle, bobbin and shuttle have driven culture and commerce for centuries. It is the Goal of the Needle Arts Guild to further understand and teach these skills to others.
All are welcome to attend! Our skills range from novice to expert, and we hope to help one another to become better. Starting in January the Needle Arts Guild will be holding "Theme Nights" that can carry over to the next fighter practice Please check back for actual dates. January Corset Busk-icks. If you afraid to tackle a corset this is the class for you! We will be tackling the following questions

  • Bone or not to bone?
  • If you bone, what do you use?
  • Where do you get supplies from?
  • Which should you do; use a pattern or cutting away whatever does not fit?
  • and more....
Feburary Tackling the Cote-headache.
March Dressing your man...how to make him look his best. We will be looking at simple patterns, decorations and alterations to dress up your man
April Just in Time for Warfaire! Basic Armor Construction! Come and joins us for the construction of Gambeson, Rapier Armor or Hood

Rapier Armor

  • Outer Fabric-Four yards of Denim, Denim (Jean weight) Twill, Duck or Trigger Cloth (width 45" to 60")
  • Inner/Liner Fabric 1 Canvas Drop Cloth (heavy weight)
  • 1 yard of 2" Velcro (or two yards of 1" Velcro)
  • Optional
  • 1 yard of contrasting outer cloth for sleeves (width 45" to 60") Cloth should be the same weight as body fabric
  • 3 packages of Double Fold Bias Trim

Gambeson

  • Quilted-3 yards of quilted material (batting should be
    sandwiched between two layers of cloth) outer material
    should be cotton (width 45" to 60")
  • Non-quilted-6 yards of 100% cotton, 3 yards of warm
    and natural batting

Hood

  • 1 yard of Denim, Denim (Jean weight) Twill, Duck or Trigger Cloth (width 45" to 60")
  • 1 foot of 1 inch Velcro
